The organizer of the 25th International cartoon exhibition ZAGREB
2020 is the Croatian Cartoonist Association. The festival is opened for
everyone regardless of nationality, age, sex, or profession.

1. Original works and

Humor e Religião por Onofre Varela
"Herman José, em 1994,
teve um programa no canal 1 da RTP, denominado Herman Zap!, de grande
audiência e agrado nacional. Um dia, nas suas rábulas, criou uma Última Ceia de
Jesus, humorística. Caiu o Carmo e a Trindade!… A Igreja Católica não achou
piada nenhuma àquele excelente trabalho de comédia, e protestou. O
bispo Maurílio Gouveia, então responsável por um gabinete que julgo
denominar-se “Episcopado para a Comunicação”, apressou-se a dizer que “O
programa ridicularizou o que há de mais sagrado na fé dos cristãos: a
eucaristia”. A série de programas foi interrompida e realizaram-se mesas
redondas debatendo a questão religiosa e a liberdade de expressão.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, então presidente
do PPD, declarou: “Vejo com preocupação que, sendo um canal de serviço público,
nele se encontrem mensagens que podem ser consideradas ofensivas de valores
partilhados pela maioria dos portugueses e também ofensivas de instituições
particularmente relevantes como é a Igreja Católica”. Herman José mostrou-se
surpreendido pela reacção da Igreja, e declarou: “Deus deve estar a rir-se às
gargalhadas da mesquinhez de quem criticou o Herman Zap!”.
Organizou-se uma mesa redonda na RTP onde se
discutiu aquele programa televisivo de diversão transformado em tragédia
nacional para a Igreja, e o frei Bento Domingues pareceu-me ser, de entre
os vários intervenientes, aquele que teve a opinião mais lúcida. Declarou
ter visto o programa e não ter encontrado nele nada que beliscasse a sua fé.
Confessou que até lhe achou graça: “Aquilo tinha a ver com o meu riso, não com
a minha fé”, disse.
Há cerca de 15 dias, uma notícia
deu conta de um ataque, no Brasil, com cocktails Molotov, à sede da
produtora de conteúdos televisivos Porta dos Fundos, na madrugada
do dia 24 de Dezembro, como protesto pela transmissão televisiva de um sketch cómico
com o título "A primeira tentação de Cristo", na qual Jesus é
representado como um jovem que terá tido uma experiência homossexual, e também
insinua que o casal bíblico Maria e José viveram um triângulo amoroso com Deus.
Eu vi o programa e não lhe achei a
graça que, provavelmente, os seus autores pretendiam. Teve dois ou três
momentos de humor, e o restante, para o meu gosto e de acordo com o excelente
trabalho que já vi do mesmo grupo, era francamente mau. A qualidade daquilo era
muito rasteira… mas, daí, até se lançarem bombas contra a empresa produtora do
programa, vai uma distância abissal!… Pode-se gostar ou não gostar e criticar o
programa. Se nos consideramos ofendidos apresentamos o nosso protesto às
entidades competentes para julgar o caso, e esperamos que a Democracia e a
Justiça façam o seu trabalho… mas um ataque à bomba é crime!
No momento actual da política
brasileira, com as acções da Direita mais extremista apoiada por Jaír
Bolsonaro, a liberdade de expressão e de criação artística está comprometida. O
próprio filho do presidente, Eduardo Bolsonaro, deputado por São Paulo, foi uma
das figuras públicas a condenar o sketch. Os actores Gregório Duvivier e
Fábio Porchat, responsáveis pela “Porta dos Fundos”, declararam: “Não nos vamos
calar! Nunca!”. Eu apoio-os na sua luta, embora aquele seu trabalho não me
agradasse, mas defendo a sagrada liberdade de expressão.
Um dia depois do atentado, um grupo
ultra-nacionalista intitulado Comando de Insurgência Popular Nacionalista da
Grande Família Integrista Brasileira, reivindicou a responsabilidade do
atentado. O espírito que sobressai do nome deste grupo leva-me a entendê-lo
como uma espécie de Ku-Klux-Klan e de agrupamento Nazi. Só grupos de tal índole
atacam a liberdade de expressão, alegadamente em favor de um ultra-nacionalismo
balofo, desusado e criminoso."
Os religiosos que se sentem
ofendidos com uma comédia quando ela brinca com elementos da sua crença, devem
protestar nos locais próprios que os regimes democráticos têm para esse fim.
No caso do atentado brasileiro duvido do
sentimento cristão do grupo de criminosos-nacionalistas, cuja reacção foi atacar
à bomba!… Este acto poderá estar relacionado com o actual regime político que
permite a violência e tem gente da IURD sentada no Parlamento, sendo que o
próprio presidente é afecto a essa seita dita evangélica, e por muitos apontada
como criminosa.
Os extremistas muçulmanos também reagiram com
metralhadoras contra o jornal satírico Charlie Hebdo, em 2015, matando
12 jornalistas-cartunistas, só porque não gostaram de uma crítica a Maomé! Os
extremistas religiosos e patrióticos não pensam para além do tabu sacramental
de Deus e da Pátria. Não têm sentido de humor, nem nenhum outro sentimento que
não seja o da vingança violenta. A interpretação que fazem dos textos religiosos
é programada pelos gurus das seitas e dos credos, e não pela sua capacidade de entendimento.
No caso da comédia brasileira, aludindo uma
hipotética homossexualidade de Jesus, ressaltam alguns condicionamentos mentais
dos crentes que os levam à irritação, à fúria e ao crime. Desde logo, temos a
própria homossexualidade que é condenada por si só e que os crentes rotulam de
“pecado”. E depois… não lêem a Bíblia! Dizem ser o seu livro sagrado, mas não
têm a mínima ideia do seu conteúdo!
No Novo Testamento (João: 13; 21-30) é
narrada uma cena incluída no capítulo onde se encontra a célebre frase de
Jesus: “Na verdade vos digo que um de vós me há-de trair”. Perante esta
denúncia, os seus discípulos olharam-se, perplexos com o que o Mestre lhes dizia.
A parte curiosa desta narrativa está nesta frase: “um dos seus discípulos,
aquele a quem Jesus amava, estava reclinado no seio de Jesus”. Quer dizer que
Jesus só amava um dos discípulos (ou amava-o mais, ou de modo diferente, do que
a todos os outros?), que por acaso era aquele que se encontrava ao seu colo, na
posição de reclinado… isto é, deitado… o que presumia alguma intimidade para
além da amizade.
Simão Pedro fez sinal a esse jovem a quem Jesus
amava, para que perguntasse ao Mestre quem era aquele que o haveria de trair. O
jovem aproximou a sua boca do rosto de Jesus e perguntou: “Senhor, quem é?”.
Segundo esta narrativa, aquele a quem Jesus amava e que se reclinava sobre o
seu seio, era seu confidente e porta-voz. Através dele os outros discípulos
dirigiam-lhe as questões e ouviam a resposta (pelo menos naqueles versículos).
A interpretação desta passagem bíblica pode ser
variada… e uma das variações, tão válida como qualquer outra, pode ser
entendida como havendo uma relação íntima entre aqueles dois homens. Não é à
toa que os autores teatrais tratam os assuntos históricos ou míticos. Eles
lêem, estudam e investigam, para poderem fundamentar as suas estórias que
passam em palco, na televisão ou no cinema. Ao contrário, os fundamentalistas
bíblicos só têm uma interpretação – a radical – e baseados nela arrogam-se o
direito de lançar bombas contra aqueles que, dando cumprimento ao seu trabalho
de criar rábulas teatrais (ou cartunes), atingem um nível de raciocínio que
está vedado aos agressores. Por isso se radicalizam… e o governo brasileiro de
Jaír Bolsonaro alimenta essa radicalização e parece apoiar os seus actos!… E se
estes terroristas não forem apanhados e julgados… não parece que os apoia…
apoia-os mesmo!
Termino transcrevendo uma frase do meu camarada
cartunista Zé Oliveira: “Produzir humor é um acto de inteligência. Produzir
terror é um acto de estupidez bárbara”.

14e Biennale Internationale du dessin d'humour au Cloître des Carmes de Jonzac du 26 juin au 5 juillet 2020.
Un grand merci à tous ceux et celles dont la confiance et le fidèle soutien
nous encouragent à poursuivre nos actions
en faveur de la liberté d'expression, l'humour et la tolérance.
Par les temps qui courent, 5 ans après le massacre de nos amis de l'équipe
de Charlie Hebdo, cet engagement semble plus que jamais nécessaire.
Depuis la 13e Biennale de Jonzac en été 2018, nous avons participé à plus
de vingt manifestations et une cinquantaine d'ateliers pédagogiques ou visites
guidées afin de sensibiliser en particulier le jeune public.
En 2020 nous célébrons 25 années consacrées au dessin d'humour et au
patrimoine culturel de la vigne en rassemblant les talents des artistes du
monde entier et en offrant un programme étendu d'expositions, d'animations,
d'échanges régionaux et internationaux, d'éditions de catalogues, affiches,
étiquettes de cuvées spéciales, etc.
Comme invité d’honneur de la nouvelle édition, nous
aurons le plaisir d’accueillir le dessinateur mexicano-cubain Ángel Boligán qui
réalisera le dessin de l’affiche.

Crónica Puntadas sen fío - Todo o que precisas é humor por Siro Lopez
A mañá do 15 de abril de 1931, en plena resaca da proclamación da
República, atopáronse en Madrid os escritores Josep Pla e Julio Camba. Levaban tempo sen verse e o catalán observou que o galego, ademais de
engordar algo, tiña a cara conxestionada e tambaleábase ao andar. Supuxo
que pasaría a noite celebrando o advenimento e Camba confírmoullo:
-¡Sí! –me
dice con un habla algo atropellada-. He venido a Madrid por lo de la República.
Aspiro a una embajada. Tengo méritos, creo yo, suficientes. He vivido casi toda
mi vida en el extranjero. Conozco varios idiomas. De joven fui anarquista.
Lerroux lo sabe y espero que lo tenga en cuenta.
Ao se despedir, Pla meditaba: «Que don Julio Camba
sería un buen embajador, está fuera de toda duda. Juega al póquer como los
ángeles».
Pero non foi e cando, semanas despois, coincidiron, un
Camba atristurado e irónico contoulle que nomearan embaixadores a moitos
intelectuais, pero non a el.
--Entonces
usted, señor Camba, ¿no ha sido considerado intelectual?
--No,
señor. He sido considerado un insignificante humorista.
Pasáralle a Cervantes cando quixo ser un dos
escritores que acompañaron ao conde de Lemos no virreinato de Nápoles. Os irmáns Argensola –cegatos os
dous- prometéranlle unha axuda que non chegou e, tempo despois, recordaríaos irónicamente
en «Viaje al Parnaso»:
Que tienen para mí, a lo que imagino,
la voluntad, como la vista, corta.
Hoxe, que as TVS encumbran aos
humoristas con talento e Zelenski chega a presidente de Ucrania; Beppe Grillo
gaña as eleccións en Italia; Tiririca é o segundo deputado máis votado na
historia de Brasil; Cervantes e Camba terían cadanseu programa e, se entrasen en
política, presidirían o Senado e o Congreso.
Nunca o humor foi tan valorado en España. O museo do Prado presenta unha
exposición de debuxos de Goya e, en paralelo, outra de El Roto, que interpreta
ao seu xeito certas escenas do xenio. Impensable en Galicia, por certo, malia
ser terra de humoristas e termos excelentes profesionais do humor gráfico.
A agudeza e arte de enxeño foi
sempre valorada no exercício da política e as actas do Parlamento falan de
confrontacións nas que os líderes
compiten en donaire. Non será así
na actual lexislatura, coa oposición encirrada en arranxar sesións apocalíticas
por . Coido que a resposta do Goberno non debería ser o cabreo,
a loita corpo a corpo, senón a risa que desarma e ridiculiza. Fíxoo Pablo Iglesias na sesión de investidura
en réplicas aos líderes do PP e VOX:
-Señor Casado, más Pérez Galdós y menos Pérez Reverte.
-Ha hablado usted, señor Abascal, del Leviatán que quiere crear la izquierda para que
algunos vivan de las subvenciones. Habiendo estado chupando del frasco de
Esperanza Aguirre tanto tiempo, creo que debería ser usted un poquito más prudente.
O día que Pablo Iglesias se entere de que a Guerra
Civil española non foi «entre bos e malos», será un parlamentario excelente e
divertido.

Homage to George Bacovia in Bacau
2021 will represent an
important year, from a cultural perspective, for my residence city - Bacău,
which will mark an historical boundary: 140 years since the birth of the most
famous local poet, George Bacovia (born in 1881).
To honor his memory, starting
with the first part of 2020, we decided to start making a cartoon-portrait
album to symbolize both the human and the poetic side of our great poet.
The cartoon collection will be
included in an extended art album called "George Bacovia -
Iconography" (Painting, Graphics, Sculpture, Cartoon). This project will
be a very important one for the entire Romanian cultural landscape and will
represent an additional reason of pride for the inhabitants of the city of
Bacău.
I would be more than honored
if you could contribute with a cartoon portrait to the compendium I want to
make, so I invite you to write together a new tab in the cultural history of my
community.
Regarding the deadline for
submitting your work, this is May 2020.

• Inspired by French symbolist
poets, George Bacovia has been considered the father of Romanian symbolism, his
work from the second part of life being later described as neo-symbolist,
surrealist and seen as a basis for modern Romanian poetry.
• George Bacovia was one of
the greatest Romanian poets of all time, his poetry being a matter of study
subject at both high school and secondary school.
• After his death, Bacău was
nicknamed the “City of Bacovia”.

the nearest, whether friends and acquaintances. This time it's been a year with
a serial number of "twenty " in the third Milénia.
Again, there
is an opportunity – even in Slovakia – to delight and caress the soul of
