15° edition of Spirito di Vino

Dear friends,

we are pleased to send you the regulations of the
 15° edition of Spirito di Vino, an international competition for artists of satirical cartoons concerning the world andculture of wine.
As last year, the competition will be made of
 two groups of cartoonists: the first group will be made of artists from 18 to 35 years old and the second one of artists older than 36 years (take a look at  the Regulations).

All cartoonists can send their artworks:
·  by email by 31th August 2014 to spiritodivino@mtvfriulivg.it
or to the following mail address: Movimento Turismo del Vino Friuli Venezia Giulia - Via del Partidor 7 - 33100 Udine - Italy.Cartoons should not exceed the dimensions of 30x40 cm in vertical. Each artist could send maximum 3 cartoons. The artworks may be in black and white or colour and may be drawn using any technique.
The
 award ceremony will take place on Saturday 13th September 2014 in Udineduring Friuli DOC (traditional early autumn festival with the best of the region's food, wine and typical products).
The
 jury will be composed of the famous cartoonists Giorgio Forattini, Emilio Giannelli, Alfio Krancic and Valerio Marini, the director of Istituto Europeo di Design of Milano Aldo Colonetti and other leading figures from the world of satire andjournalism.
We would be very glad if you could help us by passing the word about our initiative.

INTERNATIONAL CARTOON CONTEST
9th EDITION, 2014
The contest is open to all cartoonists.
THEME: PRESS
ENTRIES: max. 5.
SIZE: A4 (210 x 297 mm) – A3 (297 x 420 mm).
TECHNIQUE: Free.
DEADLINE: August 15th, 2014. The cartoons will be sent in electronic format, as a scan (JPG 300 dpi) at the following address: cult.traditional@gmail.com; please assure to enter your full name and address, telephone no., an attached photo and a brief CV; do not use compression programs (ZIP, RAR, etc).
PRIZES:
•           Great Prize - 1500 €;
•           First Prize - 1000 €;
•           Second Prize - 800 €;
•           Third Prize - 500 €;
•           3 Special Prizes – 3 x 300 € (each)
EXHIBITION and PRIZE AWARDING: September 5th, 2014.
REMARK: In order to to pick up the prizes, the winners will have to dispatch the work winning original.

Edition catalog will also include a selection of the most valuable works in the competition; the selected artists will receive a copy.

Exposição Portugal e a Europa em Cartoons até Dezembro


ENTRADA LIVRE
A um ano do 30º aniversário da assinatura do Ato de Adesão de Portugal à atual União Europeia e em ano de eleições para o Parlamento Europeu, o Gabinete de Informação do Parlamento Europeu em Portugal, o Instituto de História Contemporânea e o Centro Nacional de Banda Desenhada e Imagem da Câmara Municipal da Amadora, apresentam uma exposição original sobre a Europa em cartoons desenhados por artistas portugueses na última década.

Com esta iniciativa pretende-se dar a conhecer a visão de conceituados autores desta arte – António Jorge Gonçalves, Cristina Sampaio, Fernando
Relvas, Rodrigo de Matos e Telmo Ferreira – sobre a União Europeia e a participação de Portugal na mesma, abordando-se temas concretos como o alargamento, o Tratado de Lisboa, o Euro e a Estratégia 2020, numa seleção de 28 trabalhos.

Propõe-se uma abordagem inovadora, um outro meio de contar os acontecimentos mais recentes do processo de construção europeia, e da própria história da integração europeia, que se pretende tão familiar quanto possível. Recorrendo a um registo iconográfico atual e visualmente apelativo, apresentam-se fragmentos da evolução da União Europeia através do traço singular e crítico dos cartoons e do conceito que cada autor lhes imprimiu.

A exposição será inaugurada a 27 de Junho, às 10h30, no piso 1 do edifício I&D da Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa e ficará patente até final do ano.
