Medi BELORTAJA - Albania Cartoonis
Medi Belortaja was born on 8th March 1967 in Albania.
He graduated at the Fine Arts Institute in Tirana, the capital of Albania. Medi
Belortaja published his first drawing in 1988 and since that time his artworks
appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines at home and abroad. Currently, he
is working as a freelance artist and is concentrated mainly to creative work on
the field of cartoons and illustrations. His artworks have been exhibited at a
number of individual and countless collective exhibitions in many countries.
Since 1988, Medi Belortaja regularly participated at both national and
international cartoon competitions and festivals worldwide and his artworks
have been awarded numerous prestigious prizes and honorable mentions (we can
mention at least some of them: 1989 – First Prize at the National Traditional
Cartoon Contest of Humor magazine “Hosteni” Tirana, Albania; 1994 – Golden
Prize at 15th Yomiuri International Cartoon Contest, Tokyo, Japan; 1995 –
Golden Prize at 5th Seoul International Cartoon Festival, Seoul, South Korea;
1999 – Excelent Prize at 20th Yomiuri International Cartoon Contest,Tokyo,
Japan; 1999 – First Prize (Golden Hoed) at 38th Knokke-Heist International
Cartoon Contest, Knokke – Heist, Belgium; 2000 – First Prize at the
International Cartoon Exhibition of Dubai, United Arab Emmirates). Medi
Belortaja is living and working in Tirana, Albania.
